Ryad Mezzour (Morocco) is a seasoned engineer and political leader who has served as Minister of Industry and Trade since his appointment by King Mohammed VI on 7 October 2021, placing him at the forefront of Morocco’s industrial and commercial policy and economic strategy. Educated at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, where he earned degrees in mechanical engineering and business management, Mezzour began his career in Switzerland as a research and development engineer with ABB and later as a strategy consultant with Deloitte before returning to Morocco in 2003. In the private sector he held senior management roles, including General Manager of Budget Maroc and Suzuki Maroc, before taking on public service leadership as Director of the Cabinet of the President of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council and later as Chief of Cabinet at the Ministry of Industry, Trade, Green and Digital Economy. Since becoming minister, he has championed initiatives to strengthen Morocco’s industrial competitiveness, support economic modernization, and drive export-oriented growth, positioning the country as a dynamic hub for manufacturing, innovation, and green economy development. His leadership reflects a blend of technical expertise, cross-sector experience, and strategic vision in advancing Morocco’s economic agenda on both national and international stages.
