U.S. forces preparing the final civilian evacuations amid tightened security at Kabul’s Hamid Karzai International Airport intercepted as many as five rockets aimed at them Monday morning, CNN reports. No one has claimed responsibility for Monday’s attempted attacks, but military experts say it is likely retaliation for U.S. drone strikes that took out two ISIS-K operatives and quashed a car bomb attempt Saturday after the Islamic State terror group offshoot claimed responsibility for sending a suicide bomber to the airport Thursday. That attack killed 13 U.S. service personnel and more than 180 civilians who had hoped to be evacuated to…

The baby’s mother went into labor on August 21 while being flown from Qatar to the U.S. military’s…
Kathy Hochul takes a dig at the former Governor Andrew Cuomo by forcing all government employees to take a live sexual harassment training course so they can’t just ‘click through.’ In her first address to New York, Governor Hochul outlined her new agenda. On the list: getting kids back to school and enforcing a universal mask policy, giving renters eviction aid, changing the culture of Albany, and making it mandatory to have all government employees attend a live sexual harassment training. She told the people of New Yorkers: ‘Today, I am directing an overhaul on state government policies on sexual…

Morrisons bosses are set to scoop a jackpot of almost £40m after accepting a £7bn takeover bid from Clayton, Dubilier & Rice. The US private equity giant, which is being advised on the deal by Sir Terry Leahy, offered to pay 285p per share for the supermarket group. This trumped an earlier £6.7bn agreement with Fortress – a private firm owned by the Japanese investment group Softbank. The deal will land Morrisons’ top dogs tens…

New Zealand reported a breakthrough on Thursday (Aug 19) in tracing the source of a Covid-19 outbreak that plunged the nation into lockdown, with Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern saying it should help “stamp out” the virus. Health officials have been trying to determine how an Auckland man contracted the coronavirus this week, ending a six-month run of no community cases in New Zealand. Tests showed the man had a version of the Delta strain found in Australia, and Ms Ardern said investigations narrowed down the origin to a person who arrived from Sydney on Aug 7. She said the traveller…
