Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II (Ghana) is the 16th Asantehene and Paramount Chief of the Asante Kingdom, one of West Africa’s most historically significant traditional institutions. Born Nana Barima Kwaku Duah in 1950, he ascended the Golden Stool in 1999, becoming custodian of Asante heritage and a central figure in national and continental leadership. Combining traditional authority with modern statecraft, he engages with governments, institutions, and international partners to promote peace, cultural pride, economic development, and social progress. Under his stewardship, the Manhyia Palace has become a hub of cultural preservation and innovation, while his initiatives in education, vocational training, and enterprise development have strengthened human capital and economic empowerment in Ghana. As chair of the Asantehene’s Development Organisation (ADO), he mobilizes resources for community development, public health, and infrastructure, and participates in high-level forums on governance, mediation, and sustainable development.
