Mireille Tushiminina

Mireille Tushiminina is a Congolese human rights and gender expert with 20+ years of leadership experience in international development, peacebuilding, conflict prevention, and women peace and security. She currently serves as Country Programme Manager (Consultant) at UN Women Burundi, and previously worked as Senior Gender Adviser in Mogadishu, Somalia. She is a former Executive Director of the Centre for Human Rights and Democracy in Africa, where she led work on grave human rights violations, the Anglophone crisis in Cameroon, and conflict dynamics in fragile states. She has also held advisory roles with United Nations Regional Office for Central Africa (UNOCA) and consulted for organizations including International IDEA, Freedom House, and the American Bar Association. A certified negotiator and mediator, Ms. Tushiminina is a member of FemWise-Africa and the African Governance Architecture Technical Reference Group at the African Union. Her recognitions include Rockefeller Foundation Fellow, MLK Award recipient, Archbishop Desmond Tutu Leadership Fellow, and being named the Face of African Solidarity by the African Union and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Law and Public Policy.
