Ambassador Constância Adelina Gaspar is an accomplished international jurist and diplomat with over 15 years of experience in public international law, treaty negotiation, and legal advisory work within the African Union and United Nations systems. Renowned for her legal acumen and diplomatic leadership, she has played a central role in advancing Africa’s positions on justice, peace, and the rule of law at the multilateral level. Prior to her appointment as the African Union Ambassador to the United States, she served as Head Officer and Senior Legal Officer at the AU Permanent Observer Mission to the United Nations in New York, where she led high-level legal engagements on crime prevention, counter-terrorism, international governance, and represented Africa at the UN General Assembly’s Sixth Committee.
